World measures: Other non-metric measuring systems used in other countries.

It is interesting to consider the other non-metric systems used in other countries, and to see the similarities between them, pointing to either a common shared culture, or a natural preference for certain systems - in reality, probably a mixture of both. All comparisons given in italics (e.g. 1 Fanega = 1 ½ bushels) are to the Imperial system.

Argentina
The metric system was adopted in 1887.
